One less...

I got "fired" from my sales job today. Ha.  I was told when I was "hired" that I didn't work for the company; so how can they fire someone that doesn't work for them? I also tried to quit yesterday, and my boss stalled and started asking me a bunch of questions like, "Who said something to you?  Why are you trying to quit- I'm confused..." Sigh.  I think he just wanted to be able to call today and fire me so it could show on record that he fired me instead of me quitting.

It's just a blow to my ego.  I've never been fired before.  I know I quit working and went and got other jobs because I was too poor to keep trying to sell machines- but it still feels shitty to get that phone call.

In other news, I applied for that second job today as a server in a restaurant.  Who cares what I'm doing as long as I'm making money- right?  I don't.  If there is a man out there that is truly concerned about me being a waitress vs a professional...well...he was probably after status and money anyway.  I just want to be able to start paying down this horrific debt I've accrued trying to sell machines.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I am so bummed right now.  I knew this was coming- but still- nothing prepared me for the sting.  :(

  1. Keep you head up chicky. I know things are no good right now, but you got to experience something new and different. You will get it worked out. In the mean time, keep your head up. (((hugs)))

  3. Around here - being fired is preferred over quitting. If you quit - you don't get unemployment. If you get fired - you get to collect...but maybe that is just here. I'm so sorry it hurts....I'm mad at them for hurting you.

  4. Aw, Dizz. I am sorry. Even if you know that it might happen, it still hurts. I hope that you find something else, soon. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you and sending good job vibes out into the air for you.

  5. Hmmm. Well, it IS an ego-smack if you get fired. BUT, you didn't get fired. Not really. You quit yesterday and the boss put you off. BUT you went in to quit. If your boss hadn't done a dance, you'd have left yesterday without the job.

    You know, Diz, that's kind of fishy smelling. I don't know the employment laws...fair practices, unemployment benefits...in Cali, but your boss not accepting your resignation yesterday, but calling and firing you today...well, there may be something up with that. You might want to ask around.

    At any rate, I stand by what I said on your last post. God has a plan for you, keep pluggin.

    And thanks for your comment on my post, you made me tear up. :}

  6. Brush it off. Like you've said at least you put yourself out there and tried. You'll get another job, pay off your debt, then something else will cross your path that you're meant to do. Use whatever free time to focus on you, your faith, your health, and your friendships. Keep yourself accountable to your budget of necessary expenses so you don't increase your financial anxiety. I read yesterday on a blog that you can control two things: how you care for yourself and how you nuture your relationship with God; neither of these can be done by anyone but You! He'll provide overall, but maybe he's trying to get you to depend on Him right now? Feel free to take what I type lightly, it's just what came to mind as I've followed your journey this year. You've still got tons of blessings in your life & money is just money...you can't take it with you, but it's good to be disciplined nonetheless. ~Gina

  7. Oh man, I'm so sorry :( But seriously, in this economy? You have JOBS. Plural, even. Yeah, you're waiting tables, but anyone worth a flip will be impressed at your persistence and ability to brush yourself off and move on.

    You'll rock this.
